Hi everybody,
So I was trying to install Eclipse and the Android Plugin on my Macbook yesterday. I downloaded Eclipse version 3.6 and tried to install the plugin.
No joy.
It got stuck during the update with the message “calculating requirements and dependencies” similar to what these guys experienced:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-beginners/browse_thread/thread/723fcd65f0456214?pli=1
Eclipse also got stuck when trying to update itself.
My solution was to remove version 3.6 and install 3.5 So far I have been able to update Eclipse, install the Plugin, and am now downloading the Android platform stuff using the plugin.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone want to give me advice so I don’t get stuck on anything more stuff in the future?
Thanks,
gb
“calculating requirements and dependencies” is checking your network. So use VPN or download the ADT and install locally.
If install locally, disconnect the network.
1. Uncheck the 3rd checkbox (‘check all the websites blah, blah…’) at the bottom of the screen.
2. Click next. You`ll get an error msg saying that it cannot find one of the items from the list.
3. Click back
4. Now check the 3rd checkbox (‘check al the websites blah blah…’).
5. Click Next.

This article (from Android.com) shows how to download the archive and install it manually on 3.6 if you have this problem. The steps worked for me.
i had the same problem, can’t figure it out either. i’m going to be stubborn and not downgrade to 3.5 and see if i can figure it out.
I had the same problem on Windows 7 with Eclipse 3.6.
Mladens tip solved my problem:
“1. Uncheck the 3rd checkbox (‘check all the websites blah, blah…’) at the bottom of the screen.”
Thanks.
I’ve did what Mladen had said and…it worked!!!!
thank you Mladen! =]

Awesome answer from Mladen
In “Install new software” just don’t add the https address but the http address as source: http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/
Worked for me…
Mladens is a legend, it begins installing immediately now
Thnx Mladen!
Your tip works also for me:
Eclipse 3.7 (Eclipse Modeling Tools), Win7 x64
I’m wondering if I should take the 3.7 plunge or wait for 3.8. Thoughts?
Thanks Mladen. You’re a big lifesaver!
Thanks it work for me
